This baseball season is heating up now that we rounded past [...]]]> I thought I would again bring forth this custom baseball sports theme centerpiece video. These centerpieces can be used for table decorations at all baseball theme events and parties. They are suitable for Bar Mitzvahs, Bat Mitzvahs, Weddings, Theme Events, Retirements, Birthdays, etc.

This baseball season is heating up now that we rounded past the All Star classic and head into the stretch. (Soon we’ll be talking football again!)

The video remains a classic although we put it up over 2-1/3 years ago on YouTube. Shown are single level baseball centerpieces as well as double level. Take some styrofoam, the tubes, mylar papers add some shred, ribbon and appropriate festive decorations and wallah!

Additional items you [...]]]> Judy put together this do it yourself July 4th centerpiece using these clear flexible plastic tubes. These tubes add a display of color and height without much weight. They are unbreakable so transportation is easy.

Take some styrofoam, the tubes, mylar papers add some shred, ribbon and appropriate festive decorations and wallah!

Additional items you will need include:  silver paint that applies to styrofoam without destroying it, straight pins to secure the ribbon, a low temperature glue gun with glue sticks and possibly a small level.

The Israeli idea of what constitutes the order of events for a Bar Mitzvah celebration is somewhat standardized in banquet halls. To me, at least, it does not sound too far off from the list of events I witnessed over the past 20 years or so spent planning, decorating and overseeing like events in the U.S. Chicago land area. Here is a summary of the event list I read in a recent article of Factoidz by Petal. It was entitled “How to Plan an Israeli Bar Mitzvah Israeli Bar Mitzvah Party Timeline.”

The Bar Mitzvah and his family have a meet and greet at the door to the banquet hall. There they receive their guests and accept gifts, generally envelopes. A buffet table with entrees is often located in a garden area where guests munch and mingle. Or the guests may be directed into a main hall where the awaiting tables have a variety of light munchies.

The first major occurrence is the grand entrance by the Bar Mitzvah. This can be either a grand entrance or subdued. After, guests are asked to join in dancing until the second course is offered. This is most likely “a choice of fish, liver or a savory pastry pie.”

The climax of the evening is the Bar Mitzvah ceremony. Guests are seated and the bar mitzvah boy and family heads for the DJ. The Bar Mitzvah boy reads his speech and a candle lighting ceremony takes place. Others may also speak about the celebrant at this time.

The lights are dimmed at the end of the speeches. The Bar Mitzvah and his mother share a slow dance. Soon they are joined by the father and siblings, followed eventually by the guests. More dancing follows, with a variety of Israeli as well as international music, including rock!

The main course consisting of rice, potatoes, salad and a variety of meat is then served. A film clip or picture montage may be shown. A dessert course or dessert bar follows. The Bar Mitzvah celebration which started about 7:30 or 8:00 PM, generally ends about midnight. The author cites there is greater flexibility from this routine if you do not use a banquet hall facility.

However we did not use a real jersey or t-shirt mounted on a card board support. Instead [...]]]> A few months ago we made these tall custom sports jersey centerpieces for a bar mitzvah celebration party. Several sports were represented. We used the same flexible plastic tubes to make the tall bases.

However we did not use a real jersey or t-shirt mounted on a card board support. Instead we cut the top out of polystyrene. We painted it with the sports team colors and decorated with team names on the front.

Represented above (right to left) are the Chicago (football) Bears, the Los Angeles (basketball) Lakes and the Chicago (soccer) Fire. The jersey on the tight of this close up shows the back of the jersey with the player’s name and number.

The picture below shows one of the centerpieces in full view. This was for the St. Louis Cardinal (baseball) team.

This is a real basketball on a styrofoam base with a team pennant.  Coordinating ribbon and paper poofs accent the event color theme.

Ellen wrote to us after the party [...]]]> We did this basketball theme sports bar mitzvah centerpiece a while back.  I also stayed and oversaw part of the party, coordinating the event timings and happenings.
